If you know you know right?š
Do you ever make decisions based on your strong intuition and āgut feelingā over mental analysis?
Well⦠research shows that our MOODS can be affected by the balance of microbes in the intestines.
Hereās my personal top 7 ways of giving your gut some love:
- Eat a varied diet rich in seasonal veg - Different gut bacteria feed of different fibre, so variety is key. Seasonal local veg are full of nutrients. Increase fibre intake gradually & ensure you drink enough as fibre needs fluid to work.
- Include Fermented foods - Sauerkraut, miso, kimchi, kefir, natto.. All help
- Try to de -stress and get good quality sleep - Thereās a direct link between your brain and your gut. Being stressed and tired can have a profound effect on your gut health.
- Exercise daily to regulate bowel habit, particularly if youāre prone to constipation. Itās also associated with greater microbial diversity.
- Sit down when eating and chew your food well. Digestion starts in the mouth.
- Avoid wearing tight clothing - Placing external pressure on your gut can aggravate symptoms.
- Avoid unnecessary medications - Certain types of painkillers & antibiotics can aggravate gut problems & disrupt your gut bacteria.
